Is Better Together!
There's
no better way of experiencing the camraderie and
satisfaction of completing one of our RONA
MS Bike Tour events than as a team. As hundreds
of cyclists across the province will tell you, so
much more can be achieved through teamwork! Last
year, RONA MS Bike Tour teams raised a record $1
million in Alberta — funds
that will keep the hope of a cure for MS alive and
provide services to Albertans living with MS.

Team Successes: Sentinel Self-Storage
You’ve got a friend in TeamMS.
In 2002 Josée Gelinas was diagnosed with MS and immediately wanted to do whatever she could to fight it. Upon her diagnosis, her co-workers encouraged her to ride in the RONA MS Bike Tour in Hinton. She was not sure if she could complete something as demanding as riding in the bike tour. She decided to head out to the mountains with the president of Sentinel Self-Storage, who was riding in the RONA MS Mountain Bike Tour – Hinton, as volunteer at the event to get a better feel for it. “When I saw people of all ages and abilities riding for a cure I thought to my self, I can do this!”
The following year she was determined to ride in the RONA MS 150 from Leduc to Camrose and was a firm believer that sharing experiences with others is always more enjoyable. TeamMS was the perfect fit! She asked a few co-workers at Sentinel Self-Storage to join her team and was surprised by their willingness to say yes instantly. Alas the Spit Fires were born! Since its inception the Sentinel Self-Storage Spit Fires have quickly grown to 16 members and in the 2007 MS 150 raised over $25,000! To date they have raised an amazing $84,846.37!
Being part of TeamMS has brought our organization closer together. We train together, sometimes twice a week leading up to the tour, and it has given us all a great opportunity to bond. We have all made friendships that may never have been possible had I not created a team. “I am amazed with everyone’s ability to contribute in a different way. It keeps things fresh and exciting”. Josée admits that TeamMS has been a huge help in making her experience at the Bike Tout an unforgettable one. “Before creating a team my co-workers were just people I worked with. Now I can call them my friends”. |
