VOLUNTEERING
At
the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, we recognize that
our volunteers are our greatest resource. They make a world
of difference in every area of the organization. Whether helping
out at a special event like the Super Cities WALK for MS, assisting
with recreational programs, putting their skills to work in
the office, or becoming a board or committee member, every volunteer
contribution is highly valued and appreciated.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the MS Society. If you
have even just a few hours to spare, we want to meet you! We
have opportunities in many areas of the organization - there
is something for everyone.

The MS Read-A-Thon:
The 2008 MS Read-A-Thon is under way! Thank you to all the schools who registered this year - our 30th Anniversary!
The MS Society's Read-A-Thon program is an annual fundraiser that encourages students to read through an exciting incentive program. Students attend a 30 to 45 minute presentation describing the program at their school, giving some basic information about multiple sclerosis and its effects, and highlighting the importance of literacy.
30th Anniversary Bonus!
If your school raises $500 or more, you will receive 10% of your fundraising total back! What a great way to support your school music program, field trips, sports teams etc.
Just three weeks: Students then embark on a three-week (timing is negotiable) reading program in school and/or at home. They collect pledges from family and friends for the books they read and become eligible for a variety of great rewards. Parents and teachers have found that the MS Read-A-Thon program stimulates young people's interest in reading and that they have renewed interest in reading, even after the program is completed.
Endorsed: The MS Read-A-Thon is endorsed by the Canadian Library Association and the Literacy Partners of Manitoba. It encourages young people to read and enjoy books of their own choosing.
Money raised through this motivating program supports research, services and programs for people living with multiple sclerosis.

Cruisin' Manitoba
for Multiple Sclerosis:
June 22 nd,
2008
Cruisin' Manitoba for Multiple Sclerosis is the newest pledge-based
fundraising event. In 2007, classic cars and motorcycles along with
their drivers and passengers enjoyed a scenic cruise leaving
Winnipeg and heading to events in Lower Fort Garry, Gimli and Stonewall. Special
features included a delicious dinner, entertainment and terrific
prizes. MS volunteers will be needed throughout the day - if
you like cars, you'll love Cruisin' Manitoba!
