Ted Glover has been fundraising and WALKing in the Super Cities Walk for MS for more than 10 years. Ted has “met some fabulous people” and learned a great deal when it comes to raising funds in the fight to End MS. He believes that there are many different ways to fundraise and become a top fundraiser – you just have to figure out what works best for you!
Starting your fundraising early puts you on the right path to becoming a Top Fundraiser like Ted ! Ted makes sure to register early and always makes sure to first ask those who have supported him in previous years. When asking for donations and support, Ted keeps himself up to date on recent studies and progress in research so that he can let his donors know exactly how they are making a difference. Ted uses all forms of communication to fundraise: a phone call, a personalized email or letter and the online fundraising system. He keeps extra pledge sheets on him at all times!
Ted’s number one fundraising tip : Start early! Increase your fundraising goal by a little bit each year and communicate this to your donors. Always remember to thank your donors for their support!
Ted’s final words of advice on becoming a Top Fundraiser: Don’t be afraid to ask, never lose sight of your goal and be creative in ways to fundraise! Create a team or ask for a donation in lieu of a birthday/retirement/holiday gift. This year, in addition to his tried and true fundraising methods, Ted has received approval from local businesses in his community to hold fundraisers outside of the stores in hopes of receiving additional support from his community.
