A
willingness to contribute your time and talents to the fight against
MS is all that is needed to have you make a positive difference
in the lives of people with MS.
The
following opportunities are available in the division, chapters
and units of Ontario:
Leadership
in your Community Within the framework of the MS Society's mission, board
volunteers provide the vision, organizational skills and connections
required to build and maintain effective chapters and units
throughout Ontario. Our volunteer boards of directors oversee
all aspects of our chapters and units within their communities,
including finance, services, fund raising and other programs.
Board experience is not necessary for these positions and support
and training is available from both the local chapter/unit
board as well as Ontario Division.
Program Volunteers The
MS Society of Canada has a variety of programs offered at the
chapter, unit and division level including individual and family
services, education, public relations, fund raising and volunteer
management. Volunteers are part of on-going program committees
(both short-term and long-term commitments). As well, many participate
casually, as their schedules allow, on program related projects.
Program volunteers are hands-on individuals, turning plans into
reality. Activities include everything from event planning and
coordination to stuffing envelopes to unloading trucks for such
projects as Friendly Visiting Programs, Health Fairs, Public
Awareness Campaigns, the Super Cities WALK for MS, Christmas
Cake Sales and Volunteer Recruitment Strategies.
Fundraising Events It
takes people to raise the funds that ensure on-going services
to persons affected by MS and support for our national research
program. The MS Society of Canada prides itself on having one
of the strongest fundraising programs in the country. At division,
chapters and units, you can work on fund raising events that
include:
Super Cities WALK for MS - 60 WALKs in Ontario
RONA
MS Bike Tour - London, Ottawa, Brampton, Niagara and Toronto
Carnation
Campaign - Mother's Day Weekend across Ontario
Christmas
Cake Sales - selected chapters and units in November and December
Bingos
- selected chapters and units throughout the year
Other
chapter and unit fund raising activities
Time
commitments range from one hour to one year. Job opportunities
require a wide variety of skills, talents and energy levels.
Our
volunteer opportunities will provide you with different opportunities
to contribute to the fight against MS and to expand your interests.
